BHCA truly understands that school is much more than just a place to receive a quality education. Therefore, we work diligently to provide many extracurricular activities for our students. Each year, high school students raise money for our high school trip. In 2011, BHCA students traveled to Cedar Point, Ohio, Mackinaw, Michigan, and Chicago Illinois. In recent years, our students have been to Atlanta, Orlando, Philadelphia, New York City, Niagara Falls, Boston, Plymouth, Gettysburg, Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston.
Also, every two years in December, our high school students travel to Washington, D.C. for a Christmas tour of our nation’s capital. On these trips we often meet with our senators or congressman, and on several occasions, we had the privilege of hearing the President speak. Students participating on our trips must meet certain academic, discipline, and fundraising requirements.
BHCA is a member of the South Carolina Association of Christian schools and our students participate in the state Fine Arts competitions. We offer chorus classes to high school, junior high, and elementary students. Each spring, our high school drama class performs a play at the McElvey Center in downtown York. Field trips, school carnivals, and field days are also available for our elementary students. Also, in February, we crown our homecoming queen and the year concludes with our formal “Touch of Class” banquet. It is our goal to provide many lasting and exciting memories for our students – memories which will last a lifetime!
